This beautiful hymn text suitable for eventide did not have an original tune so one was written with the feel of a lullaby. We envision singing this song unaccompanied just before bed to bring our attention to the safety, hope, and rest that are found in remembering that our loving Father holds us in his unending light and unfailing love. We trust in his guard over our souls and can sleep securely knowing that God is the supreme authority over us whether we are awake or asleep.
